This compelling and informative event hosted at the Proteus Training Centre, covered the changing roles of trade Unions in the Transport and Logistics sector and proved to be very successful. The guest speaker was Adrian Jones, National Officer of Unite who led a very lively face to face discussion with operators on the changing role of trades unions in transport and distribution.
Adrian outlined the Union’s view on key employee issues affecting transport and distribution operations in the next few years as online retailing and the 24/7 delivery culture becomes even more embedded with customers.
A rare opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the key influencers of a sector that has enjoyed many years of de-regulation, was taken advantage of by delegates from all areas of the Logistics Industry, who has a myriad of questions that gave the Unite national representative food for thought, and Adrian gave a very clear view point on how the Logistics Industry could help drivers have a better, more comfortable working experience by providing better personal hygiene facilities.
Proteus provided guests with a top notch lunch and networking opportunities were plentiful. All in all the event was rated successful by delegates, and Peter Acton, Logistics Leaders Network Chairman gave his thanks to Proteus for hosting such a fine event.
