Proteus Software has enjoyed a significant period of global growth over the last 12 months with a number of new companies selecting PROTEUS^® in both South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Proteus Centre of Excellence, Proteus South Africa, has forged a productive partnership with leading Distribution and Transport Management software providers, Dovetail. The partnership has already proven successful with two major 3PLs implementing the PROTEUS^® solution.

Rennies Distribution, who are a major 3PL/Distributor with multiple warehouses located throughout South Africa, have gone live with the PROTEUS^® warehouse management solution in partnership with Dovetail. The first site handles the picking packing and shipping of the well-known Oceana Fishing Group brands, including Lucky Star, Seafare, Lucky Pet and Happy Pet labels. They also use the combined software solution for the putaway picking packing and delivery of the Bernina Sewing Machines brands including the Bernina Activa and the Bernina Aurora.

Proteus has also fully implemented it’s PROTEUS^® directed warehouse management solution in the Friendly Grocer food retail chain, who are part of the Metro Cash & Carry Group, in Africa. The group’s DC, City Deep in Johannesburg, has seen major benefits to their operation as soon as the system went live. Johan Van Straaten, FDC City Deep said, “The implementation of phase 1 has gone smoothly, without any major problems. Positive impacts of the new RF system on our receiving department have already been experienced, and I believe that in the future the new system will bring huge advantages to our business. The second day of going live, we received the stock for Bay R1, 4 million stock items in total, consisting of cigarettes and a fair volume of range orders. At approximately 15h30 all receiving cages were empty, and only the balance of the current day's received stock was left for put-away during the night shift. This in itself has never been experienced in this DC

before.”
