In April 1999, Proteus Software Limited were recognised as an 'Investor in People' company and awarded the national Standard for good practice in the training and development of its staff in achieving our business goals.
 
The Standard was developed during 1990 and provides a national framework for improving business performance and competitiveness, through a planned approach to setting and communicating business objectives and developing people to meet these objectives.  The result is that what our staff can do, and are motivated to do, is in alignment with what our company and our customers need them to do.
 
The 'Investor in People' Standard is based on four key principles:

* Commitment to investment in people to achieve business goals
* Planning how skills, individuals and teams are to be developed   to achieve these goals.
* Action taken to develop the necessary skills and use in a well defined manner and a continuing programme directly tied to business objectives.
* Evaluating outcomes of training and development for individuals' progress towards goals, the value achieved and future needs.
 
These four key principles are a cyclical process and are broken down into 23 indicators, against which any organisation wishing to be recognised as an 'Investor in People' is assessed.
 
Proteus Software have been committed to the training and development of our staff over many years and been a firm believer in the business benefits that can be derived for the training and development.  With the valued assistance of Valerie Abl, Applied Human Resources, over the past few years we have defined our Vision and Values Statement, which has led to the development of our comprehensive Organisation Skills Matrix & Training Plan.
 
Our accreditation of the 'Investor in People' Standard was attained with the support and encouragement of Business Link- Solihull, who guided the company through the assessment process over a nine months period and have continued to provide a variety of support to our business.
