MIP Holdings
MIP is a major South African based systems house and software developer. MIP systems are sold and supported locally and internationally. They have been in operation for 14 years and in this time have grown to 170 employees, most of whom are developers and customer service personnel. The head office is in Johannesburg and they have an office in Cape Town. The Company's focus is in three main areas; the first is the provision of effective software solutions in the financial services industry, particularly where the collection of contribution income and the payment of benefits are concerned. The company currently services 700,000 principle members in this vertical market with systems spanning Medical Aid Administration, Managed Health Care, Pension Fund Administration, Funeral fund management and Life Insurance Administration. The second area of focus is the development and provision of software development tools to assist both the company, and their users, to improve the quality and development timeframes of their software solutions. They have developed the Dynamax suite of development tools, which constitute a full rapid development environment. Part of this technology has now been adopted into Progress itself, and is now known as Progress Dynamics. It is sold worldwide and is the basis by which Progress developers worldwide build and deploy modern business applications. Thirdly, MIP is a major shareholder in Auto–Mate, a company, which provides computer applications and services to 60% of the motor dealers in South Africa and throughout Africa. Auto–Mate hosts 4,500 users at their head office and has a further 3,00 stand alone users. These applications are written in Progress, which makes MIP the largest Progress developer in South Africa and one of the top ten in the world.
