The Logistics Leaders Network Seminar, hosted by Proteus Software at their offices on 27th November, was a great success, where Industry Leaders gathered to discuss relevant issues affecting the attraction of fresh young blood into the industry today.
The main focus of the seminar was geared to how to attract young people into the Logistics industry, what apprenticeships schemes are available, spotting talent in employees and how to gear their future growth according to their abilities. The well attended seminar included speakers from Bioss, Peter Taylor, and Jenny Causer of The Apprenticeship Centre who explained how the government’s modern apprenticeship scheme works for businesses, large and small.
The event concluded with a lively panel discussion. Topics covered were the benefits of having an apprenticeship scheme within an organisation, how technology is moving the supply chain to become a more fully integrated solution, and how to educate and attract young people into this particular sector.
The debate concluded with the panel agreeing that the Logistics Industry has more aspects to it than the storing of stock or delivery of goods. They also agreed that there are many avenues in the industry that young talented people can take, and with the right training and development can progress to become a leader in their chosen field, operations director, marketing director or technical champion for example.
