Packaging Resources

Packaging Resources is a provider of third party logistics (3PL) services including warehouse management and repackaging.   During 2001 the board felt that the then current warehouse was no longer suitable to support the range and level of services that its clients would require in the future.

The Problem
As a result a decision was made to invest in a new purpose built facility on the outskirts of Dublin at Greenogue, near Rathcoole.  The new distribution centre, which came into live operation in June 2002 provides 90,000 sq feet of warehouse space and has a capacity of up to 13,000 pallet locations.  The warehouse is equipped with 4 blocks of movable racking and an area of fixed racking. The mobile racking is 6 tiers high with 9 aisles in each block providing 72 faces. There are also 720 pallet locations within the fixed racking bins.

The Partnership
Concurrent with the construction of the new facility the company embarked on a project to implement an advanced paperless warehouse environment.
