Skills for Logistics at CV Show

Continuous Professional Development Promoted at CV Shows Skills Zone

Skills for Logistics (SfL), the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industries, is encouraging employers to review their skills requirements to ensure that the UK logistics industry maintains its’ competitiveness on a global platform. SfL is demonstrating its commitment to promoting Continuous Professional Development (CPD) through its co-sponsorship, for the third year, of the Skills Zone at the 2007 show. SfL will provide employers with the perfect opportunity to find out about skills development, regulatory training such as Driver CPC requirements and initiatives to support workforce diversity. In addition the Skills Zone will provide information on career opportunities and training programmes.

“Skills for Logistics is calling upon employers to take responsibility for the development of their staff. Lord Leitch’s recent review of skills identified a real requirement for an employer-led system and SfL sees the CV Show as a real opportunity for employers to get involved in developing the future workforce of UK logistics,” commented Ian Hetherington, Chief Executive.

“The logistics industry constantly battles against its perceived image which can put people off considering a career in it, however through the Skills Zone we are able to promote how professional the industry really is. The event also offers employers with an excellent opportunity to find out more about CPD and developments in training requirements whilst enabling them to feedback to their Sector Skills Council on their needs.”

The Skills Zone can be found at Stand 2155 Hall 2, Birmingham NEC from 24th to 26th April. To arrange a meeting with a skills expert to talk about your organisations CPD requirements or any issues that you may have regarding training regulations please email nicola.hoople@skillsforlogistics.org.
