The Hobby Co goes live with their new web portal from Proteus
Leading model toy distributor, The Hobby Company has gone live with their new website, designed and supplied by Proteus Software.
The Hobby Company forged its name and reputation for quality, excellence, service and expertise in Toy & Hobby industry by specialising in the supply of quality model toys for enthusiasts and hobbyists of all ages to trade outlets, and thanks to roots which go back as far as 1966.
Their world renowned brands include Carrera, BBurago, Ebbro, Marklin and the famous Tamiya brand recently featured on the TV series the Gadget Show.
Pete Binger, Managing Director of the Hobby Co has expressed his delight at the favourable reaction their new website has received from their trade clients, “We now have over 100 customers registered and up and running on the web site. The vast majority are hugely impressed with the design, ease of use and functionality. I have received a host of compliments from some of the bigger customers who have their own web sites and understand the enormity of what we have created.”
The Proteus® Web Engine is the backbone of the new site and is a transactional e-commerce system. There are brand and catalogue descriptions search functions, which allow for simple entry of stock and quantity in order to build an order basket. As transactions occur the system provides stock notifications and stock updates in real time. The website is fully integrated into the Proteus® Warehouse Management System, and the Hobby Company Order and Financial Management system. Any orders placed on the website, the system produces a pick note in the Warehouse Management System, and all the transactions and tasks are automatically updated by the software, right through to the loading of the order onto the lorry. The Order Management System updates the financials automatically.
The Proteus® Web Engine is particularly useful for the ordering of spare parts, which used to be a time consuming task, requiring order inputting from a member of staff. Now this process is all handled automatically by the system with no need for any duplicate intervention.
The administration of the site is handled by the internal staff giving them the ability to update the site as required, negating the need to be dependant upon a Webmaster.
Pete continues “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the Proteus team for all your hard work, commitment and support in getting the site developed and us live - it is greatly appreciated.”
